Big Lottery Fund - Reaching Communities

Financial assistance is available for projects that help those most in need and improve the quality of life in communities across England.  The programme is largely aimed at benefiting the work of Third Sector organisations.

Funding of £250 - £5000 for one or more of the following activities:

• Strengthening communities

• Bringing people from different backgrounds

• Responding to local needs

• Strengthening organisational capacity

Up to five awards are available each year, for either £14,000 or £28,000. Selected recipients need to demonstrate a strong motivation to the charitable or voluntary sectors in the UK. The usual MBA admissions procedures apply.

Big - Fair Share Trust

A £50 million trust providing sustained funding in Fair Share Areas which missed out on Lottery funding in the past.

£10,000 - £30,000 grants for education and training activities, and to improve financial capabilities of disadvantaged people, particularly in areas where Abbey, Alliance & Leicester, or Bradford & Bingley have a significant presence

Grants to individuals and other charities, to enhance the quality of life for people in need, (specifically the mentally and physically disabled). Funding for buildings, equipment, respite breaks.

Supports projects benefitting marginalized individuals within the community. Projects should make a difference to people’s lives. Beneficiaries include asylum seekers, ex/offenders, older people, people experiencing mental health problems, violence or abuse.

Supports charitable and community causes in the local area of ASDA stores. The Foundation does not pay for salary or general funds but does pay for specific 'things' such a renovating a community hall.

Current areas supported are: children; youth; the elderly and; medical.

£300 - £10,000 grants for disadvantaged communities for projects that meet one or more of the following criteria:

The Cambridge Community Knowledge Exchange is a new initiative from the University of Cambridge which provides free access to research for voluntary and community sector organisations, with students who need to carry out a project as part of their degree, seeking to make a match between the two.

Offers all sports clubs in the UK the chance to win grants ranging from £250 to £1000. It is a simple scheme aimed at giving community clubs a helping hand and provide the opportunity to raise the money they need to invest in their club.

Crash provides support to frontline organisations helping homeless people across the UK. The charity works with the construction and property industry to offer practical help and advice to improve facilities provided by charitable organisations for the homeless.

Changing Lives is a grant scheme that offers single homeless or recently homeless people up to £2500 to move towards work. Grants can be used to:

• Pay for work-related courses

• tools/equipment to do a course, carry out a job, become self-employed
